ok...so I built this 5 years ago and she's in desperate need of repair. needs a neck reset and bridge is starting to come up a bit. she was glued mostly using hide glue and has a French polish finish. my main concern is the back. multiple splits. is the back salvageable or do you think it needs replacing? |

Was the damage caused by impact, or climate? Alex |

How did the back get so broken? |

it was by impact...that's what I get for letting others touch my guitar lol |

my thoughts exactly! now I just have to figure out the best way lol the main issue is with the crack that is overlapping..i was thinking a push against the insides up against the sides to spread it but am worried about blowing the sides out |

If the sides are still good and I was otherwise happy with the guitar, I would probably replace the back. You could reset the the neck when you install the new back. Assuming you are keeping the guitar, you could try repairing the back, and if not happy with the results, replace it. |

I know I'm a bit late to the party but I wanted to add on to Clay's point. Even if you plan to replace the back, it might be good experience to first try to fix it in place. Worst case scenario you get a little repair experience; best case, you save the back. |
